Section R908.2 is titled 'Structural and construction loads' and covers requirements for reroofing. Roof assemblies being capable of supporting the new roof covering system as well as the loads that will be encountered during construction is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.

The model shows an asphalt shingle roof with symbolic weights which represents the new roof covering and construction process loads.
