R902.2

Section R902.2 is titled 'Fire-retardant-treated shingles and shakes' and covers the requirements for the manufacturing of fire-retardant-treated wood shingles and shakes (it does not require that fire-retardant-treated shingles or shakes must be used.) A requirement for fire-retardant-treated wood shingles and shakes to be fire-treated by a specific method in accordance with a cross-referenced standard, as well as marking and labeling of such materials is established. The purpose of this section is to slow the spread of fire.
