Section R803.1 is titled 'Lumber sheathing' and covers the requirements for lumber used as roof sheathing. A cross-reference to a table for lumber sheathing spans, a cross-reference to 2 roof covering sections which cover spaced lumber sheathing, and disallowance for spaced lumber sheathing in seismic design category D₂ is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
