R802.4.2

Section R802.4.2 is titled 'Framing details' and covers requirements for roof-ceiling construction. The requirement for rafters to be framed and fastened in a certain manner is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.

The model shows 2 examples of opposing rafters - the 1st uses a ridge board with one rafter animated to show the maximum allowed offset; the 2nd has rafters directly opposite each other joined together with a collar tie.
