R703.5

Section R703.5 is titled 'Wood, hardboard and wood structural panel siding' and covers the requirements for the manufacturing and installation of these materials used as a covering on exterior walls. The requirement for wood, hardboard, and wood structural panel siding to be installed in accordance with this section and a cross-reference to another table in this code, hardboard siding to comply with a standard, and hardboard siding used as architectural trim to comply with a standard is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent wood, hardboard, and wood structural panel siding from detaching from the wall framing, premature degradation from water intrusion through exterior walls into a building, and to slow the spread of fire.
