R703.1

Section R703.1 is titled 'General' and covers the requirements for exterior wall weather resistance. The requirement for exterior walls to be weather-resistant, and a cross-reference to another section of this code for flashing of exterior walls is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent premature degradation from water intrusion through exterior walls into a building. This section has an exception which exempts walls built from logs from needing to comply with this section. The purpose of this exception is to clarify that log type construction is not intended to be covered by the methods provided for in this section.
