Section 609.3 is titled 'Testing and labeling' and covers requirements for exterior windows and doors. The requirement for windows and sliding doors to be tested by a specific agency and bear a label with certain specific information, and for side hinged doors to be tested and labeled with certain specific information is established. The purpose of this section is to mandate that certain information is readily identifiable for exterior windows and doors. This section has an exception which exempts decorative glazed openings from this section's requirements. The purpose for this exception is to allow for decorative glazing, which by its nature cannot conform with the listed standards.
