R608.4.1

Section R608.4.1 is titled 'Surface burning characteristics' and covers requirements for wall construction. The requirement for the flame spread and smoke-developed indexes of forming material left exposed on the interior of exterior concrete walls to conform with other sections of this code, dependent on type of material is established. The purpose of this section is to slow the spread of fire and limit the amount of smoke if it were to catch on fire.
