R606.6.4.1.2

Section R606.6.4.1.2 is titled 'Metal reinforcement' and covers requirements for wall construction. Where being installed for horizontal lateral support, the requirement for intersecting masonry walls to be tied together with joint reinforcement of certain types, of minimum length in each direction, and at maximum vertical intervals, dependent on the type of wall, or with other equivalent anchorage is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.

The model shows masonry walls intersecting and being tied together with truss type wire reinforcement. (Mortar has been excluded for clarity).
