Section R606.6.4.1.1 is titled 'Bonding pattern' and covers requirements for wall construction. Where being installed for horizontal lateral support, the requirement for half of the masonry wall units to overlap in a specific pattern, and a minimum amount of bearing for the masonry units is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
