R606.3.7.1

Section R606.3.7.1 is titled 'Masonry laid in running bond' and covers requirements for wall construction. The requirement to offset head joints by a minimum amount in successive courses in order to be considered a running bond, or where not offset by this amount, to provide reinforcement in accordance with another section of this code is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.

The model shows a masonry hollow block wall section being constructed with a running bond pattern. The wire reinforcement may or may not be required dependent on the wall design.
