R606.2.8

Section R606.2.8 is titled 'Mortar' and covers the requirements for the proportioning of mortar mixtures. Cross-references to other sections of this code which cover certain, specific types of mortars, a cross-reference to a table which provides data for proportioning of mortar types, a cross-reference to another standard for alternative allowed mortar property specifications, and cross-references to other sections of this code which specify allowed types of mortar for specific elements of construction is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.

The model shows parts of cement-lime type M mortar, with a 3X aggregate ratio, and includes a 1/4 water part which is not specified in table R606.2.8, but will be specified by the cement manufacturer.
