Section R606.12.3.2 is titled 'Minimum reinforcement requirements for masonry walls' and covers requirements for wall construction. The requirement for masonry walls in certain seismic zones, other than those covered by another section of this code, to have a minimum amount of reinforcement, dependent on cross-sectional area of the wall, to be uniformly distributed, of minimum size in accordance with a table in this code, and to have a maximum spacing, dependent on the type of wall is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
