Section R606.12.2.2.1 is titled 'Load-bearing frames or columns' and covers requirements for wall construction. The requirement for load-bearing frames or columns within a wall which are not part of that wall's lateral force-resisting system to be considered for and designed to withstand load that may be transferred to them from the lateral force-resisting system is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
