R602.10.2.2.1

Section R602.10.2.2.1 is titled 'Location of braced wall panels in Seismic Design Categories D₀, D₁ and D₂' and covers requirements for wall construction. The requirement for braced wall panels to be located at the end of each braced wall line in certain seismic zones is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure. This section has an exception which allows for braced wall panels to begin a maximum distance away from the end of braced wall lines provided they are built in accordance with specific listed requirements which are depicted in a figure in this code. The purpose of this exception is to allow for designs which provide equivalent structural stability.
