Section R507.9.2 is titled 'Lateral connection' and covers requirements for attaching a deck to the primary structure. The requirement for lateral connection, and a cross-reference to 2 figures which depict different types of connection devices, and details for their installation is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
