R507.5.1

Section R507.5.1 is titled 'Deck beam bearing' and covers the requirements for the arrangement of deck beams and their supporting members. A minimum overlap dimension dependent on the support member material, requirement for the entire beam to be bearing on the supporting member, requirement that multiple ply beams must have each ply bearing on the supporting member, and a cross-reference to 2 figures which depict allowable arrangements of beams and supporting members is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
