R506.2.3

Section 506.2.3 is titled 'Vapor retarder' and covers requirements for concrete floors on ground. The requirement for a vapor retarder of certain thickness and material or other approved material to be installed within a certain place in the concrete floor assembly is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent premature degradation of concrete floors and reduce moisture accumulation on concrete floors. This section has an exception which exempts the requirement for a vapor retarder where accumulation of moisture on the concrete floor is of less concern. The purpose of this exception is to not require a vapor retarder where it is unnecessary.
