R503.2.3

Section R503.2.3 is titled 'Installation' and covers requirements for the fastening of wood structural panels used as subfloor or combination subfloor underlayment to floor joists. Cross-references to other tables in this code which list required fasteners for attachment of wood structural panels to wood and cold-formed steel framing is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.

The model shows a floor section with a wood structural panel on wood floor joists with the predriven fasteners spaced as required per table R602.3(1), item #30 row 1. When cold-formed steel framing is used, screws are used per table R505.3.1(2) (not shown in this model).
