R404.1.6

Section R404.1.6 is titled 'Height above finished grade' and covers requirements for foundation construction. The height that masonry and concrete foundations must extend above the adjacent grade, dependent on whether or not masonry veneer bears directly on it is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent ground water from entering the building at the top of the foundation.

The model shows two partial wall assemblies, one with masonry veneer, the other without masonry veneer, and adjacent finished grade below the top of the foundations in accordance with this section.
