R403.2

Section R403.2 is titled 'Footings for wood foundations' and covers the requirements for details of wood foundation footings. A cross-reference to two figures which depict details of wood foundations which must be adhered to, and allowed base aggregate is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.

The model shows a section of a wood foundation including the base aggregate measuring 16" wide by 6" deep and a pressure-preservative-treated 2x8 footing plate centered on the aggregate.
