R322.3.6

Section R322.3.6 is titled 'Enclosed areas below design flood elevation' and covers requirements for flood-resistant construction. The mandate to use enclosed areas below the design flood elevation for only certain limited types of uses is established. The purpose of this section is to limit damage and loss to buildings and structures due to flooding, which are constructed in areas prone to such.

The model shows an enclosed area below the design flood elevation in a coastal flood hazard zone which only contains a stairway to the main structure and a bookshelf.
