R322.3

Section R322.3 is titled 'Coastal high-hazard areas (including V Zones and Coastal A Zones, where designated)' and covers requirements for flood-resistant construction. The requirement to designate areas to certain flood hazard zones dependent on the amount of wave action they are subject to, and the subsections that apply to construction in a specific zone is established. The purpose of this section is to limit damage and loss to buildings and structures due to flooding, which are constructed in areas prone to such.
