R316.5.13

Section R316.5.13 is titled 'Floors' and covers requirements for foam plastics. The allowance for exemption from another section of this code which requires a thermal barrier between foam plastic insulation and the interior of a dwelling, when foam plastic is used as floor insulation under certain specific conditions and arrangements, and clarification that the exemption does not apply to the bottom side of the insulation where the floor is exposed to the inside of the building is established. The purpose of this section is to allow for foam plastics as floor insulation with alternative protection methods.
