R311.8.3.3

Section R311.8.3.3 is titled 'Continuity' and covers requirements for ramps. The requirement for handrails for ramps to be installed with specific characteristics is established. The purpose of this section is to mandate that when ramps are installed that they are constructed to reduce the risk of trip, fall, entanglement, and bump hazards as well as to provide an efficient pathway between different levels.

The model shows a ramp with the handrail highlighted, the returns highlighted in a different color, and a translucent plane which represents the minimum space required between the handrail and the wall.
