R310.3

Section R310.3 is titled 'Emergency escape and rescue doors' and covers the requirements for doors being utilized as emergency escape and rescue openings. The type of door and an adjacent exterior area well being required when the door is located below grade is established. The purpose of this section is to limit emergency escape and rescue doors to certain types which are more easily openable compared to other types of doors, and to provide adequate space for exiting to grade when the doors are installed below grade.
