R310.2.3.2

Section R310.2.3.2 is titled 'Drainage' and covers the requirements for providing drainage for window wells which serve emergency escape and rescue openings. Drainage being required in accordance with another section of this code is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent window wells from filling up with water and leaking into the basement and/or otherwise obstructing use of the window well. This section has an exception which exempts the requirement for a drainage system, where certain soil types allow natural drainage to occur and avoid leaking into the house and/or obstruction of the window well.
