R308.2

Section R308.2 is titled 'Louvered windows or jalousies' and covers the requirements for glazing within a louvered assembly or jalousie. It is worth noting here that a louver is a fixed slat assembly, whereas a jalousie has adjustable slats. Minimum glass thickness, maximum glass length, and glass exposed edge finishing is established. The purpose of this section is to provide regulation for glazing which is considered to pose a risk of injury, but is not covered under the requirements for hazardous locations listed in section R308.4. This section intends to apply to doors with louvers or jalousies as well as windows.

The model shows a jalousie door.
