R308.1.1

Section R308.1.1 is titled 'Identification of multiple assemblies' and covers the requirements for labeling glazing in hazardous locations where a multipane assembly has individual panes not exceeding 1 sq.ft. in exposed area, i.e., not covered by framing. The labeling of one pane in accordance with section R308.1 and the remaining panes labeled with just the standard to which they were tested is established. The purpose of this section is to maintain consistency with the Federal glazing standard which allows for such a labeling arrangement.

The model shows a multi-pane door assembly where each pane is less than 1 sq. ft. in exposed area, the bottom left pane contains the manufacturer's designation required by section R308.1, and the remaining panes are only labeled with CPSC 16 CFR 1201. (The labeling in the model is larger than actual real-world labels for the sake of clarity). Note that this assembly uses an actual muntin to support each separate pane of glass, whereas similar looking assemblies use a single pane of glass with a decorative muntin, and such glazing would then only require a single label.
