Section R303.5 is titled 'Opening location' and covers requirements for outdoor intake and exhaust openings. A cross-reference to subsections which cover the technical details for intake and exhaust opening locations is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent hazardous or noxious fumes from being drawn into the dwelling and to prevent walkway users from being subjected to hazardous or noxious exhaust fumes as well as ice from forming on walkways.
