R302.10.2

Section R302.10.2 is titled 'Loose-fill insulation' and covers requirements for burning characteristics of insulation. An alternative standard for testing loose-fill insulation is established. The purpose of this section is to slow the spread of fire and limit the amount of smoke in the event of a fire. This section has an exception which allows cellulosic fiber loose-fill insulation to comply with another section of this code and another standard, in lieu of the standard in this section. The purpose of this exception is to allow for an industry accepted method for testing cellulosic fiber loose-fill insulation.
