Section R301.1.1 is titled 'Alternative provisions' and covers the requirements for the allowance of other codes which may be used, within the limitations of this code, for structural design, other codes allowed for structural design, and the requirement for engineered design to comply with the International Building Code is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent structural failure.
