Section M1306 is titled 'Clearances From Combustible Construction' and covers requirements for mechanical systems. The purpose of this section is to prevent fires.

The model shows a partial combustible wall section, some with protection between it and a vent pipe, and some without protection. The distance of the vent pipe from the combustible wall is reduced where compliant protection is installed between the combustible studs and the vent pipe.
