R1006 Overview

Section R1006 is titled 'Exterior Air Supply' and covers the requirements for providing combustion air into fireplaces. Five subsections cover design, use, and construction details. The purpose of this section is to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, oxygen depletion, explosions, and fires.

The model shows a factory-built fireplace, with a connected section of duct that will run to the exterior of the dwelling, in order to bring exterior fresh air into the firebox.
