R1003.14

Section R1003.14 is titled 'Flue area (appliance)' and covers requirements for masonry chimneys. The requirement for a chimney flue to be the same area or larger as an appliance connector, the area of flues to be determined from cross-referenced tables, and a cross-reference to another section of this code to size the flue, where multiple appliances are connected to a single flue is established. The purpose of this section is to assure that appliances exhaust to the exterior properly which prevents carbon monoxide from entering the interior of the building.
