R1001.10

Section R1001.10 is titled 'Hearth extension dimensions' and covers requirements for masonry fireplaces. The minimum plan view dimensions of a hearth extension dependent on the size of the fireplace opening is established. The purpose of this section is to prevent the building from catching fire.
