Chapter 3 Overview

Chapter 3 is titled 'General Regulations' and covers high-level requirements for plumbing systems. The purpose of this chapter is to prevent structural damage to the building from plumbing system installations, shutting down elevators to access plumbing components, storm water entry into the building, spread of disease, inhalation and contact hazards, explosions, fire, damage and premature degradation of plumbing system components, damage to sewage treatment plants, and rodents from entering the building, as well as to provide requirements for minimum facilities (including during construction), and an efficacious and efficient system. This chapter also allows for a performance based, engineered design.
